Dear Emmaus Community,

You have heard the scripture “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalms 8:1) put that with 65 + people singing and fellowshipping over food and a beautiful summer day and you have May 30th, when the Emmaus community gathered to worship our Lord in the beautiful park here in Carlsbad. We had out of town guests from Artesia and Eunice join us for a hamburger cookout and worship. It was an amazing afternoon. When I stop and think about all the places that God could have put me to live and the freedom that I have to worship in a community park without fear of attack, I have to stop and praise the Lord. I pray that there were people in the park that were blessed by our music and felt the presence of our Lord and Savior. Many thanks to the individuals that worked so hard to make this event so rewarding.

I was out of town for the June meeting but I was told everything went smoothly under the direction of Eddie Gates, Thank you Eddie. I also would like to express my thanks to Robert, Lanny, Stacie, and Lourdes for the beautiful music; I was disappointed that I could not attend. Welcome to the new Babe chicks and thank you from sharing from your heart. Bill Proulx thank you for answering God’s call to serve as Spiritual director for the evening.

July is approaching quickly and we have a Women’s Walk coming up on July 16-19th at Guadalupe Christian Camp, with send off at Epworth Methodist on the 15th, at 6:00pm please plan on coming and wishing them well as they get ready for the Walk to Emmaus. We are in need of juice boxes/bottles for the women’s walk; please bring a six pack to the July monthly gathering.

As we approach the 4th of July holiday, please take time to think about what independence means to you, we have had many women and men that have fought and died in the battlefields for our freedom, so that we would have the right to worship whom we choose, and live without fear. But we must also remember that Jesus also fought for our freedom, when hanging on a cross, crucified without cause, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34) So take time to thank one of those individuals that has fought for your freedom and thank Jesus that he did not turn His back on us.

DeColores,

Carolyn Rayroux, Lay Director
Guadalupe Emmaus Community
